Oxygen Concentrator

The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed the lives of countless loved ones, and many are still in desperate need of respiratory support. In a time where we can no longer take every breath for granted, the gift of an Oxygen Concentrator allows those suffering from severe pneumonia, one of the most dangerous effects of COVID-19, a chance of survival. This device removes nitrogen from the air, then distributes oxygen to the lungs of patients struggling to breath. For every minute, an Oxygen Concentrator can produce 10L of oxygen, helping to keep families together.

Give the gift of health.

Fighting for every breath in India

© UNICEF/UN0479957/Mitra

Saksham is receiving oxygen assistance from an oxygen concentrator at a hospital in Kolkata, India.

Millions of children and adults around the world rely on oxygen therapy to survive. Every 39 seconds, a child dies from pneumonia. Many of these deaths are preventable.

Since the start of the pandemic, the rapid spread of COVID-19 has made it increasingly difficult for the world to breathe. In India, where Saksham is from, almost 33 million people have contracted the virus and more than 400,000 have lost their lives.

During these moments of crisis, UNICEF has been on the ground in partnership with the Indian government, providing oxygen concentrators, oxygen cylinders and oxygen plants, which continue to be in high demand as hospitals struggle to support growing communities that have contracted COVID-19.

With health systems under pressure, portable oxygen concentrators have been essential for giving those in even the most remote locations a chance to fight for every breath.

Breathing shouldn't be a luxury. Help support the most vulnerable by closing the oxygen gap with a gift of an Oxygen Concentrator today.
