Overcoming severe malnutrition with therapeutic ‘peanut butter’

When Eurico's young son Amisse became weak and unwell, he was terrified about his future.

At just 18 months old, Amisse was suffering from malnutrition and urgently needed treatment.

Through a UNICEF-supported nutrition program, Amisse received Plumpy'Nut®, a high-energy peanut paste, also known as a ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF) that helps children recover from severe acute malnutrition.

Little by little, Amisse regained his strength.

Eurico was so happy to be able to say, "He is getting bigger and fatter... Now he is playing again."
