Around 25 million people need clean water for drinking, for washing, and for cooking. This means children – mostly girls – go out daily to fetch water. These girls should be in school, learning and building their futures.

With your help UNICEF has a solution. We can install pumps powered by solar energy to bring clean underground water to tens of thousands of communities across Afghanistan.

These are simple, climate-friendly facilities that are built by the community, for the community.

It means that fewer children will get sick from water-related diseases like cholera. But, also, girls can go to school, and be safe.
